Something's Wrong With Me

You know, I started writing the below post much earlier than yesterday, but I patiently waited until the 26th to publish it. Yesterday, the 26th, I sat down to finish and publish the post, but double checked the day's date just to make sure I had it right... "Yep, the 26th!"

This would all be fine and dandy if Elena's birthday fell on January 26th... but it doesn't. Elena was born on the 25th. Ummm, oops? I'm sure other moms forget their children's birthdays all the time, right?... (crickets chirping).

Cut yourself some slack, you were sedated at the time :)

I forget Inara's, and like Susan said, I blame it on the sedation. Chris and I have been married 5 years and together two more than that, I still have to double check his birthday when writing it down somewhere.

Amy also has the excuse that she ran the blog post by me and I didn’t catch that the date was wrong. In fact, I remember actively thinking that Jan. 26th was right. In a further effort to make Amy feel better I can reveal that I also spent much cognitive effort trying to recall Evan’s birthday on Saturday and I am still not sure if it is October 8th, or 9th. I do remember that the Cowboys beat the Bills on the day Evan was born in a game that saw 5 Romo INTs and a successful onside kick recovery to set up the game winning score. I will just sing Evan “Happy Birthday” on both days to cover my bases. My struggles with dates documented above give context as to why I want our next child to be born December 7th (this is a date I already know due to Pearl Harbor and can easily remember).

Here's a tip...Christmas is Dec 25th, Elena's B-day is Jan 25th and Ben's is Feb 25th. And for the record, I kept thinking Elena's B-day is the 26th and I kept feeling like a bad Grandma... now it's obvious why I have been confused!

Mom and I have decided that I need to be the official date keeper of the family as I was able to easily recount the birthdays of all 4 of your family members along with your anniversary (which actually is on a 26th, even if it is in June) ;-)
