Here...beep-beep-ba-beep... Everything's Better!

Sometimes the highlight of our day is a trip to HEB. If I've ever come across as trying to paint our life as exciting, let this post set the record straight. :-)

Shamu and Car Seats

I took the kids to Sea World today. I think we lasted a whopping 1 hour before leaving and heading to my friend's house (thanks Liz!). Maybe one day I'll work up to an entire morning... baby steps, baby steps.

Anyways, I bring Sea World up only to share this interesting story:

I was starting the mile or so trek from my car to the entrance of the park when I noticed a man who seemed to purposefully fall into step with me and who was obviously eyeing my double stroller.

He then casually says to me, "I used to work for Graco." (The brand of my stroller.)

"Oh....Neat.", I replied, not sure of the proper response for this type of random information.

He continued, "Yeah, my friend Ryan and I invented the car seat that snaps into the base and stroller."

Now he's got my attention! Those car seats are the best thing ever for getting around town without waking your baby or messing with the buckles as you get in and out of the car!

He kept filling me in on his life's story; how he and his friend didn't see a dime from the profits generated by their invention, and how he's now designing pacemakers.

As we reached the end of the hike, I thanked him on behalf of all the moms out there.  I know... cheesy, but it seemed like he was pretty desperate for a pat on the back.

So that's my story - it's been a slow blog week. Yes, it did occur to me that he could be delusional, but that makes the story kinda creepy, so I like my version better.

Boys Only

Evan had a little playtime with his friends the other night.  Watching babies "play" is very entertaining.

I'm an Aunt!

I"m back! My last post pretty much explained what's new with me, but I'll still fill you in on the details. We got a call Tuesday night around 2 am informing us that my sister-in-law Abby had gone into labor a couple hours before. It was a short 2:45 hr drive to Katy, TX (suburb of Houston), but it was not short enough for us to get there before Micah was born. Abby's labor was only 5 1/2 hours long!!! She did an awesome job during labor and managed with no epidural.

Nate and Abby are the proud parents of Micah Jesse Ezell. Micah weighed 7lb 2oz and has lots of hair!

Yeah, I'm Hip

So, I thought I'd do another post composed of discoveries I've made as of late. Well, it's actually only one discovery - facebook!  Anyone heard of it? Check it out - you just might be surprised, as I was, at how many people use it. Why, it must be in the hundreds by now!

9 Months Old

Our sweet boy is now 9 months old! I know that the following details will be less than interesting to most of y'all, but I'm going to blog it anyways for my benefit. We mommies seem convinced that we will be tested on this kind information down the road.

- He weighed in today at 19lb 8oz (40th percentile). I didn't catch his height but it put him in the 60th percentile. Lastly, his head is still reigning in the 95th percentile. :-)

- He crawled a couple of weeks ago, but I think I over did it when I showered him with praise. He now seems to think his job is done in the crawling department and has not shown much motivation to really pick up speed.

- He's really starting to become attached to whatever object he's holding. He can throw quite a fuss if you try to remove whatever happens to be in his clenched little fist.

- He still turns up his nose at solids.

- His sister really makes him giggle (a fact of which she is really proud)

- He seems to remember familiar faces and studies (with a very serious look) all the new faces he comes in contact with.

We just enjoy him more and more every day!

Name That Cloud

We were driving in the car this morning and Elena was looking at the altocumulus clouds (What? You can't identify your clouds? Okay, so I cheated and looked it up). She suddently shouts out, "Look mommy, BUBBLES!"

Ah... the mind of a 2 yr old.

North Carolina

We're back from the beautiful coast of North Carolina! We spent a week there with my parents and sister visiting my Nana and simultaneously staying at the beach. This was Elena's third time to make the trip, but the first time for her to really looove playing in the sand and water. The trip was full of firsts for Evan - first airplane ride, first time in the sand, and most importantly his first time to meet my Nana!

On the boardwalk looking at Peppertree Inn (the condo where we stayed).

Stylin' in their shades.

Eatin' sand - it's a baby thing.

We attended a 4th of July party hosted by some relatives.

Swinging on the playground at the condo.

We of course took more pictures which are now posted on our online photo album.
