We haven't, but our neighbors have! In fact, they have had two spottings this week in their backyard (one by their poor dog). And when I say neighbors, I mean the kind that are right next door. The "rattlesnake remover guy" told them that this weather is to blame for the inundation.
I'm pretty disturbed.

ummm, yeah! disturbed is an understatement :P I wonder if Off candles work on snakes... ;-)
we had the EXACT same situation here. My neighbor killed one in his flowerbed in his backyard. Needless to say, I really don't want my kids outside right now! I don't know what I would do if I came across one of those things! I hate snakes!
It's like a jungle in your backyard! Deadly centipedes, snakes... you guys should start charging, get a few petting goats and you're set. :)
Chris assures me that if there is no food (mice in the case of rattlers) there will be no snakes... maybe it's time to get an outdoor cat. Then again maybe your kids outside ever morning make enough racket to keep the mice at bay. I'd watch it with the water table/pool though a lot of critters are in desperate search mode for water, and where they find water those who like to eat them, find dinner.
oh my soul Amy! that is scary.....crazy!
