My Favorite!

I just read Abby's latest post on her love affair with So You Think You Can Dance which inspired me to post my favorite routine ever done on the show. Enjoy!

Did Ya Know?

Here are three completely separate "discoveries" I've made as of late that may interest some of you.

Another HEB Central Market?

First of all I looove our HEB (Huebner and NW Military). It is small enough that you can get in and out in a jiffy, the people (those shopping and working) are super nice, and it's clean! So I mourned when I heard they were going to be closing it due to a larger HEB being built less than a mile away.

Well come to find out, that the new HEB will be called "HEB Alon Market" and is going to have a "fresh format" mimicking the Central Market in Alamo Heights. You can check out the details at the below link. This knowledge makes me feel a little better about losing my HEB.

Cheap Curtains

I haven't been here, but after looking around online, I'm very curious and want to go sometime.  Miller Curtain Outlet is apparently a great way to outfit your windows on the cheap. It's located on the south side.

Turn Your Blog Into a Book

Blurb.com is a new site where you can create just about any type of book. They have really classy layouts for photo albums/portfolios, but the cool thing is that you can upload your blog and turn it into a keepsake.

New Floors

Over the last couple of weeks we had work done on our floors.  And when I say work, I mean the kind that really disrupts your routine.

The first week a tile crew came, tore out the old tile in our kitchen and entry-way and then put down new tile. I couldn't be in the house during this process so the kids and I moved in with my folks (thanks Mom and Dad!). The second week a wood crew came out, pulled up the carpet, and laid wood flooring down in the living room/study area. Both processes released amazing amounts of dust into the air. I have doubts that our house will ever be clean again.

I really love the way it turned out, BUT I have to confess that I had a moment back when the new tile was being laid where I kinda panicked. I hated it! You can imagine what a horrible feeling that is. But thankfully, I liked it a little more when they put in the grout, more when the laid the wood next to it, and a whole lot more when they put the baseboards up. Whew!

This was taken as they were working in the living room, hence the furniture in the kitchen, but it's the best picture I have of the tile.

8 Months Old

Evan turned eight months old today...

Let's see... here are  some of the highlights of the stage he's in right now.

He is a champ at rolling around to get where he wants to go; crawling won't be far off.

He's reaching that point where he likes to be "silly". He knows when he makes us laugh and he in turn laughs with us.

On the subject of laughing, Evan has the oddest giggle. It sounds like it belongs to an 80 yr old smoker.

We love him crazy!

A Plethora of Roly Poly's and Dust

There is no shortage of either of these in my house right now. The dust is from the work on our floors (more on that later), and the roly poly's....well, I'm not really sure of the reason for this invasion. Is there a roly poly season or something? Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? At lease the catch and release program we have going keeps Elena busy.

Go-Peddin' It Up

Ben's new ride, the Go-Ped, has arrived! He "drove" it to work yesterday, and besides a little mishap with the USAA sprinklers running, the trip was a success and added a mere 5 minutes each way to his normal commute.

His car will most likely change hands to the new owner today. We will then officially be a one car, one Go-Ped family rolling in the $11 we saved.

Ice Cream, Oreos, and Gummi Worms...

...make a sugarlicious "dirt cake" - a little too sweet for my taste (says the girl who has been known to eat ice cream for breakfast), but this was the cake of choice for celebrating my brother's birthday.

Happy Birthday Adam!

Elena was of the opinion that the cake had just the right amount of sweetness. After a sizable portion she starting showing signs of a sugar-induced giddiness.
